Meet The Band
Mike Leger - Guitar, Vocals
In 1964 Mike was at his Grandparents house watching the Ed Sullivan show when all of a sudden the Beatles were introduced. The next day Mike combed his bangs down and went to school. He got his first guitar (which still hangs in his music studio) at age 8 for Christmas. In the 5th grade he learned his first “real song” which was the House of the Rising Sun”. He tinkered around and learned a few more. In the 9th grade Mike took a guitar class at Evergreen Junior High, “Miss Stroud taught me how to finger pick and different patterns”. Then when Mike was 18 (and engaged) Mike’s future Father –in Law Alan Marsden put on a concert at Bountiful High School, Mike told Lesley he wanted to play guitar for her Dad so he went to work and practiced and practiced and practiced…He became Alan’s guitar player and is still accompanying him today. In the late 70’s Mike met Doug Vandegrift who was Alan Marsden’s Bass player and Mike and Doug have essentially been playing in a band together ever since. Mike is quoted as saying “The Endless Summer band has been the Best and most fun experience I have had so far. There have been different member come and go but the Core 4 are still together with Kevin’s Lead guitar perfectly played to the original song and Mickey’s drums, Doug on the bass and vocals, I just love it. We sound just like the record. If you close your eyes my goal is you will hear the original band”. Mike is still married to his best friend Lesley with 5 Children and 11 Grandchildren. Enjoy the Music…..
Kevin Stevenson - Lead Guitar
Kevin is one of the original members of Endless Summer band which was formed over ten years ago. It all started when a friend and neighbor Mike Leger asked him to join a few friends to play Beatle music. After turning him down a couple of times, Kevin finally agreed and actually had a good time. From that point the band went from playing only Beatle music to adding Beach Boy hits, then added songs from other great bands from the 60’s and 70’s.
Kevin is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to having the songs sound as close to the original recording as possible. He spends a lot of time listening to the solo parts then tabbing them out on paper to get them just right. He enjoys this challenge almost as much as actually playing them in a performance.
Kevin played his first real show with a band called OZ when they asked him to join them to play a church function. After OZ broke up, He formed a rock band with his younger brother called Pacific Freight. He played rhythm guitar in this band until two of the members moved away. Shortly after Pacific Freight, an acquaintance of Kevin asked him to play bass guitar in a band called Middle of the Road.
Some of Kevin’s music influences include Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and David Gilmore. He enjoys listening to them because they know how to make a seemingly simple guitar solo express deep sincere feelings that the song alone can’t express. They are masters at what they do.
